What MX5 do I Have? What MX5 do I have? Which hood should I fit to it?
The MX5 has changed slightly (or a lot!) depending on what year the car was made. Japanese imported Eunos Roadsters or Mazda Miatas are effecively EXACTLY the same when it comes to hoods. Mark 1 (built 1989-1997) Mark 2 (built 1998-2005) Mark 3 (built 2005-on) Please see below to identify your MX5 by pictures... Mk1 Mark 1 MX5s have the pop-up headlamps and were built between 1989 and 1997 (although some were registered in 1998). These came with vinyl hoods with plastic rear screens fitted in the factory. If you want you can fit a hood with a glass screen into them with some slight modification to the frame (drill needed). You are also likely to need extra electrics to get the screen working which you can check by clicking here. For those of you that have a special edition roadster or MX5 and wish to keep the hood as close to factory spec or colours as possible, please see our model guide at www.dandycars.com. We offer hoods for M2-1002 (light beige - please call for availability), VR-Combination A (beige) and B (green), R-Limited and G-Limited (navy) and V-Special Type 2 (tan). Mk2/2.5 ![]() Mark 2 MX5s have the fixed headlamps built between 1998 and 2005. There is a Mk 2 sometimes known as a Mk2.5 (built from around 2000) which is a very slightly facelifted version, but the hoods are the same as the Mk2. These all came with hoods with heated glass rear screens. Mk3 ![]() Mark 3 MX5s are the very latest model built from 2005. We have these hoods available as well. |
